Our Tips For Hosting Holiday Event In Pensacola

Our Tips For Hosting Holiday Event In Pensacola With the weather cooling down, many people are already beginning to plan their holiday events here in Pensacola. Whether it is a special holiday brunch, a company holiday party, or a secret Santa gathering, it is important to have an event space in Pensacola that will make your holiday event shine. At O’Brien’s Bistro, our private dining space is perfect for hosting your holiday event. To make your event stand out this holiday season, here are some tips for hosting a holiday event in Pensacola that everyone will remember … for the right reasons!   Create A Fun Ambiance When it comes to hosting your holiday event in Pensacola, ambiance is everything. Ambiance includes everything from the food, to the decor, to the music, and even the lighting. Our tip is to provide a twist on the classics. Instead of red and green table decor, opt for metallic or monochrome colors that still feel festive. When hosting your holiday event, music is key, so make sure to curate a playlist of music that will last throughout the full event, and is not too distracting to the flow of conversation.   Plan Activities But Allow For Spontaneity There is nothing worse than an event where people are left to their own devices. This allows for awkward silences to fall over a group, or for guests to overstay their welcome. For your holiday event, try to plan a loose structure of how you want things to go, complete with a few things for your guests to do. Whether it be conversation prompts, gift sharing, or a moment to reflect on the year, having a few guiding moments can help you immensely when hosting your holiday event.   Bring Party Favors So Guests Leave With A Gift When hosting your holiday event, it’s always best to leave your guests with something to remember the event by. Some good examples of simple party favors are a themed candle, hot chocolate bombs, bags of spices for mulled wine, and small stockings filled with goodies like skincare products and holiday soaps. These small party favors will make your holiday event one to remember for years to come.   Don’t Go Overboard One of the best things about the holidays is the simplicity of the traditions associated with them. When hosting your holiday event, be sure not to go overboard and make it too complicated. The last thing you want to do is overwhelm your guests with too many activities, too much food, and too many desserts to try. Keep in mind the size of your party, and know that, especially at O’Brien’s Bistro, you can always order more food and drink.   Make Sure The Food And Drink Is Accommodating For Everyone One of the worst things you can do as a host is invite someone to an event where they can’t eat or drink anything. Be sure to include a place on your RSVP for your guests to let you know of any allergies or dietary restrictions, as well as some non-alcoholic beverage options for sober guests. Honoring those restrictions will go a long way for your guests, and make you look like a top-notch host. While not every dish or drink can be dietary friendly, be sure to include at least two options that are free of allergens or dietary restrictions, so your guest feels welcome and not like a nuisance or an afterthought.   If you are looking for a private dining room in Pensacola to host your holiday gathering, look no further than the private dining room at O’Brien’s Bistro. Our private dining room provides you with a perfect meeting spot to enjoy the season with friends and family. With space for up to 40 people, our private dining room is Pensacola’s premier place for hosting small events. Call today to reserve our private dining room for your holiday event.

Holiday Happy Hour Tips

Holiday Happy Hour Tips This holiday season there are plenty of hosting opportunities, from family parties to work gatherings. The best, and easiest, holiday event to host is a holiday happy hour. Consider it the more mature version of a college “pregame.” All you have to do is host some friends or family after work but before the night’s main festivities. Happy hour is great at home, but if you do not want to host this holiday season, check out the happy hour at O’Brien’s Bistro. At O’Brien’s Bistro, we love creating a fun, relaxing, and enjoyable happy hour in Pensacola. If you are trying your hand at hosting your own holiday happy hour, here are some of our holiday happy hour tips to make your happy hour amazing!   Incorporate Seasonal Ingredients A perfect way to make a holiday happy hour more festive is with seasonal ingredients that invoke holiday feelings. Try serving a delicious spiked eggnog or hot cocoa, or take advantage of seasonal flavors in simple syrups like cranberry, pumpkin spice, apple pie, ginger, and citrus.   Make Sure To Stock The Classics Your holiday happy hour should be full of options, so remember to stock ingredients for classic cocktails, in addition to any seasonal drinks you might want to serve. By having the classics at your happy hour, like beer, wine, hard seltzers, and classic liquors like vodka, whiskey, and tequila, you can ensure that every guest has something delicious to drink.   Don’t Run Out Of Ice While the weather outside may be cold, no one wants a warm drink. We recommend buying at least 1 pound of ice per guest. If you plan on making the event into a whole evening, as opposed to just a short holiday happy hour, it’s best to opt for 2-3 pounds per guest. If it is cold enough you can always store the extra ice outside.   Snacks Are Just As Important As Drinks Snacks are a great way to add some more holiday cheer to your happy hour this season. When it comes to happy hour snacks you want to offer something light, that’s not messy, and has just the right amount of holiday flair. You could try something like mini-baked brie bites, a holiday snack mix with red and green ingredients like dried cherries and pistachios, or a very trendy charcuterie board.   Give The Gift Of A Happy Hour Season One of the highlights of the holiday season is giving thoughtful gifts to your closest friends and family. At your holiday happy hour, why not give the gift of more cocktails by providing recipe cards for each signature drink you serve? This way, your guests can take the recipe cards and make your specialty cocktails at home, which creates a new holiday tradition.    Make A Big Batch Hosting a holiday happy hour is a great way to celebrate the season with your friends and family. But it is difficult to celebrate and connect with your loved ones if you are stuck behind the bar making drinks the whole time. Our tip for your holiday happy hour is to make a big batch of a signature cocktail and store it in either a punch bowl, a large pitcher, or a glass drink dispenser. Be sure to label the cocktail with its ingredients and a fun festive name.   Include Non-Alcoholic Options For your holiday happy hour, be sure to include your friends who do not drink alcohol, but still want to connect and enjoy the season. While simply having non-alcoholic options like seltzer water, sparkling juice, and soda is a great way to show you care, our tip is to go above and beyond by creating a specialty non-alcoholic punch or mocktail. Having this specialty mocktail option is a great way to show you care and spread love this holiday season.   While hosting a holiday happy hour at home is great, you need to check out the happy hour at O’Brien’s Bistro in Pensacola. Here at O’Brien’s, we are happy to offer Pensacola an excellent happy hour deal. We offer 50% off our house wines and well drinks, 25% off select call drinks, and $2.00 off each beer on our menu. We offer this great happy hour deal from 4-6 PM Monday-Friday. Want more information? Contact us and let us make your happy hour worth every minute!

How Private Dining Could Help You Close A Deal

How Private Dining Could Help You Close A Deal Nowadays, most business deals are done in online meetings, with many people working from home, not in a private meeting room like they used to be. These meetings are often full of distractions from kids walking into their parent’s home office to dogs barking and the other general distractions that come with working from home. If you’re looking to close an important business deal, it is more than worth it to conduct your meeting in a private space that tells your client you actually mean business. Let’s take a closer look at how private dining could help you close a deal.   A Private Dining Experience Shows Your Investment  In a world of conference calls and Zoom meetings, many businesspeople never have a face-to-face in-person meeting with a prospective client. Deals are done mostly on phone calls and emails but meeting up with your client and offering them a private dining experience can help show them that you are serious about their business. While private dining in Pensacola is not as expensive as people think, it still shows that you want to take care of your client and go the extra mile in your business relationship. Using private dining to show your investment in your relationship with a client could be the final factor that helps you close a difficult deal.   Private Dining In Pensacola Allows You To Speak Freely  When looking to use a private dining experience to help close a business deal, there’s no greater advantage of private dining than the ability to talk freely in a comfortable and fun environment. While taking a client out to dinner may be enjoyable, conversation about sensitive business deals can feel awkward in a busy restaurant and may cause them to clam up. However, in a private dining space, they will unconsciously feel much freer to get down into the details and allow you to use the private dining experience to hopefully close the deal.   Treating Your Clients To Private Dining Allows You To Show Your Personality  In addition to using private dining to be able to speak more freely, having a private dining room all to yourself allows you to really connect with your client and charm them with your personality. Business deals that are done over Zoom or other online conference calls can feel stiff and impersonal. Private dining allows you to share a meal with your client, ask them about their life outside work, their hobbies, their passions, and what gets them up in the morning. This personal connection simply can’t be created in traditional meetings which is why private dining is such an excellent tool for closing a deal.   Private Dining Allows You To Show Your Client The Best Of Your City Using a private dining meeting to help close a deal has an added advantage for out-of-town clients. Hosting your meeting in a private dining space allows them to take a break from the fast food they have likely been eating at the airport and on the go and showcases one of the gems of your city. This aspect of private dining is a huge advantage to have, especially for clients that are looking to establish a branch or location in your city. Leaving your client with a good impression of your city due to their excellent private dining experience can help you close an important deal day or even weeks after they’ve left the city.   If you are looking for a private dining room in Pensacola to help you close your next deal, look no further than the private dining room at O’Brien’s Bistro. Our private dining room provides you with a perfect meeting spot to share a delicious meal and connect with your client. With space for up to 40 people, our private dining room is Pensacola’s premier place for hosting small events. Call today to reserve our private dining room.

How To Bring Restaurant Ambiance To Everyday Dinners

How To Bring Restaurant Ambiance To Everyday Dinners There’s nothing quite like going out to eat. Most successful restaurants have an unbeatable ambiance that makes you want to return to them time and time again. For many restaurants, the ambiance is just as essential as the food and can help create that wonderful experience that people return to again and again. If everyday dinners at home aren’t’ feeling quite as special, you can make them a bit fancier by bringing some elements of that restaurant ambiance we all love to your very own dining room. Using these tips, you should easily be able to bring that restaurant ambiance to your everyday dinners.   Set The Mood Audibly One way to bring restaurant ambiance to your home is to fill the empty spaces between conversation with music. Many people’s first thought when picking dinner music is typically some kind of smooth jazz, and while that may be relaxing, it can feel a bit generic. Instead of the same old dinner jazz, take a cue from restaurants that provide live music and pick a playlist of one of your favorite musician’s live or acoustic session performances. Additionally, there are playlists on YouTube that incorporate unique audio effects like rain, faux record static, and city noise that can provide a restaurant-quality experience at home.   Change Up The Colors Many restaurants and food businesses employ color psychology to subtly influence a diner’s decisions. Psychologists have found that warm colors like red, orange, and yellow typically make people the hungriest. For this reason, many restaurants employ these colors, or warmer tones of other neutral colors, to create an atmosphere that makes someone want to eat. To emulate this in your own home, consider switching up the plates, napkins, placemats, or even the flowers on the table with warm-toned ones to create a restaurant-like ambiance in your own home for everyday dinners.   Make Professional Place Settings In Advance One thing that sets a restaurant ambiance apart from an everyday dinner at home is the professional place setting, often with certain forks and spoons for different courses. In our busy everyday lives, it feels like there isn’t enough time to make a professional place setting for just a dinner at home. To add some restaurant ambiance, try pre-rolling silverware when you have an extra minute in cloth napkins. You can also choose plates, napkins, and table accessories that all go together to create a cohesive look.   Plate Your Food Like A Pro While the setting of a restaurant is great, the main focus is typically on the food. If you are looking to create a restaurant ambiance at home, try plating your meal beforehand, instead of just allowing people to serve themselves. Plating can be a real art form and can elevate an everyday meal to something fancy. For an extra bit of restaurant ambiance, place the plates in the oven for a few minutes to allow them to warm up. This way, the ceramic plates will keep the food warm instead of quickly chilling it to room temperature.   Lighting Can Make All The Difference Restaurant lighting is meticulous, as it needs to be bright enough to create an inviting mood and show off the food but dim enough that there is no harshness. To achieve this restaurant ambiance with lighting, the key is diffusion. Make sure there are no harsh naked bulbs and that your lights are diffused with a heavy shade. If the only option available is a harsh overhead light that can’t be dimmed, try some soft LED lamps or string lights along with candles to create a warm twinkly atmosphere.   While creating a restaurant-level ambiance level at home for everyday dinners is fun, there’s no beating the real thing. At O’Brien’s Bistro, we pride ourselves on having one of the best restaurant ambiances in Pensacola, with friendly staff and delicious food. But don’t just take our word for it, join us at O’Brien’s Bistro for lunch, dinner, Sunday brunch, or our new Happy Hour.

10 Innovative Burger Ideas To Spice Up Your Summer

10 Innovative Burger Ideas To Spice Up Your Summer There’s pretty much no better summer tradition than a good old-fashioned cookout. The weather is nice enough to fire up the grill and cook a fantastic, savory, smoky meal without ever turning on the stove. However, after years of the same old summer burgers, many people are getting tired of the classics. While a classic burger is unbeatable, this summer take the tip from O’Brien’s Bistro and try innovating this classic summer meal. Here at O’Brien’s, we are always looking for ways to take the freshest seasonal ingredients and innovate new and exciting dishes. Join us this summer for exciting and innovative fare, and then try your own hand with 10 innovative burger ideas to spice up your summer.   Go Vegan With so much fresh produce this summer, try going meatless for a meal and use fresh exciting ingredients to craft your own veggie burger. Most veggie burgers use beans as a base, with fresh veggies and herbs as well as some binding ingredients like breadcrumbs. You could also grill portobello mushrooms to use as patties and top with vegan gouda and a rich balsamic glaze.   Take Inspiration From Japan Some of the most innovative burgers on the market are in fast-food restaurants. The Japanese franchises of McDonald’s offer unique burgers. One burger offers a salmon cake with crispy rice buns. These buns can be made easily with sushi rice and are a great gluten-free option for those looking for an innovative burger.   Add Frozen Butter Everyone loves a rich juicy burger, and one of the more innovative ways to add richness to a burger is to grate frozen butter right into the meat. During the cooking process, it will melt and create an extremely juicy and succulent burger.   Try A Unique Meat One way to innovate the classic burger this summer is with unique meat. Many natural food stores offer a variety of unique ground meats like elk, venison, and even ostrich. While they may seem strange, these unique meats are often more humanely raised than standard beef cattle and make a unique and exciting burger.   Experiment With The Buns Who says that a burger has to be on the same plain buns? Go bold this summer by experimenting with interesting bread to place your burger and toppings in. Some of our favorites are ciabatta buns, focaccia rounds, English muffins, sourdough rounds, and pretzel rolls.   Stuff Your Burger Sometimes burger toppings can slide off, making a huge mess and ruining the experience. Innovate a solution this summer by stuffing your burger with unique toppings Simply make two thin patties, sandwich toppings in the middle, and seal the edges. You can stuff your burgers with unique fillings like fontina cheese, bacon, or a beautiful egg yolk.   Grill Your Mix-Ins An innovative way to spice up plain burgers is to add exciting mix-ins like herbs and spices. We love to char these mix-ins on the grill before adding them, to double down on the grilled smoky taste. Some great grilled mix-ins include pineapple, jalapenos, cilantro, zucchini, and corn.   Breakfast For Dinner There’s nothing better than spicing up dinner with breakfast food. This summer, make breakfast for dinner into a burger by using waffles as the buns, grilled sausage patties as the burgers, and topping with cheese, a fried egg, bacon, or any other savory breakfast treat.   Take Inspiration From Your Favorite Vacation Destination Feel like you’re at an exotic vacation destination without leaving your backyard this summer with innovative burgers. Add dill and tzatziki to turkey burgers with whipped feta and grilled red onions to create an incredible Greek burger or add Jamaican jerk seasoning and curry powder to your burgers for an island burger you’ll love.   Who Says Coleslaw Is Only For Pulled Pork? Coleslaw is one of the best toppings for a burger, and most people never even try it. It’s cold, crunchy, and creamy and you can dress it up however you want. Add sesame oil, vinegar, and honey for a sweet Asian-inspired slaw, or use a classic slaw dressing to add an innovative crunch to your next burger.   While innovating your own food is great, it’s so much more fun to let the experts at O’Brien’s Bistro serve you delicious and unique food you will love. Join us for happy hour, your next big event, or just a delicious meal any night of the week.

Six Summer Food Hacks From The Pros

Six Summer Food Hacks From The Pros   Summer is a great time of year for food. Produce is fresh and in-season, the weather is great for outdoor dining, and there are so many opportunities to host a backyard bash. If you want to spice up your normal summer cooking routine, or are looking for a few hacks on how to make hosting your next summer barbecue a breeze, there’s no one better to ask than professional restaurant chefs. Here at O’Brien’s Bistro, we want to share some of our summer food hacks from the pros with you to help make this summer even more delicious. Skewers On Tap Kebabs are a great, easy weeknight meal in the summer. You can put pretty much anything on the skewers and either grill or bake them to delicious perfection. The problem is, that to go into the oven or on the grill, bamboo skewers have to be soaked for at least 30 minutes beforehand. A great hack for having skewers on hand to use at a moment’s notice this summer is to fill a reusable water bottle with water, add some skewers to it, and place the bottle in the fridge. The skewers will be good to use for up to a week and will be ready to go right when you need them.  Grilled Unexpected Items Burgers, hot dogs, veggies, and meat are all great to grill, but after a while, they can get a little boring. Restaurant chefs hack this boredom by grilling unique and unexpected items to add bold and exciting flavors to their dishes. Grilled peaches and plums are great in dessert or fresh salsa, grilled avocados add a smoky flavor to traditional guacamole, and you can even grill hard cheeses like paneer, queso fresco, and halloumi to crumble over salads or other dishes.  Up Your Condiment Game  Summer is all about the condiments. Ketchup and mustard on hot dogs, mayo on a picnic sandwich, hot sauce on anything you want a little spicy. There are endless combinations of condiments, but this summer make like the restaurant pros and make your own. Condiments like ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise are super simple to make from scratch and add a whole new layer of flavor to every meal.    Use Frozen Fruit Instead Of Ice  There’s nothing better than a good frozen drink during the summer. Whether at the pool or just sitting on the deck, it’s great to unwind with a frozen margarita, pina colada, or daiquiri. This summer, instead of watering your drink down with ice when you go to blend, try using frozen fruit or fill ice cube trays with fruit juice. You’ll have an equally refreshing drink that won’t get diluted as the hot sun rays melt it.  Chill Plastic Wrap Speaking of staying cool this summer, did you know that many restaurant professionals and caterers keep their plastic wrap in the refrigerator as opposed to at room temperature? Chilling plastic wrap keeps it from sticking to itself by removing some of the static electricity. This summer hack lets you store your food without wasting plastic wrap that gets all bunched up on itself.  Keep Your Knives Sharp This Summer Summer is often full of fresh produce that is just begging to be chopped up into a delicious salsa or salad. But, a dull knife could send you to the hospital instead of out on a fun summer day. Professional chefs always keep their knives sharp, and you should too even if you don’t have a fancy knife sharpener. Simply turn a plate upside down, and run your knife along the unglazed ceramic base. The friction will sharpen your knife and help you avoid kitchen accidents this summer.   This summer you need to check out O’Brien’s Bistro for our delicious menu of fresh and seasonal dishes. Call and reserve your table, or stop in for O’Brien’s new happy hour!

Where Do Food Cravings Actually Come From?

Where Do Food Cravings Actually Come From? We’ve all experienced a truly intense food craving. Whether it be a meal from a local restaurant that you can’t stop thinking about, a childhood snack that still tastes just as good years later, or a particular fast food item that you find yourself returning to again and again. Cravings can come out of nowhere and for a variety of reasons. People can even crave foods that they normally despise all of a sudden. These mysterious food desires are often treated as a bad thing; an indulgence that is often looked down upon. But food cravings are not inherently bad or good. What they are, is simply an extension of both your physical and mental health. Whether it’s a warm slice of pizza or a sweet and juicy orange that you can’t stop craving, there is probably a reason for that craving. Let’s explore those reasons and take a closer look at where do food cravings actually come from. Food Cravings Can Originate For Physical Reasons While food cravings are often thought to be voluntary, and as more of a desire than something someone needs, there is evidence that food cravings can be completely involuntary, and biological in origin. One of the most recognizable of these physical origins for food cravings is seen during pregnancy. Pregnancy cravings are completely physical in origin and are caused by a shift in hormone levels. Other hormone-induced cravings are often seen during PMS where evidence has shown cravings for carb-rich foods are common. There are many other fascinating physical reasons for cravings. Among them are lack of hydration, lack of physical activity, and sleep deprivation. Another physical cause of cravings is an imbalance of Leptin and Ghrelin, the hormones that regulate hunger and fullness. An imbalance in these hormones can leave a person feeling constantly hungry and unable to satisfy their cravings for food and drink. Many Food Cravings Have Mental Origins On the other hand, some food cravings are purely inspired by activity in the brain. These mental origins tend to all be linked to the brain’s pleasure centers. Scientists haven’t quite figured out exactly why certain foods trigger the brain’s dopamine and endorphin response, but it has been shown in many studies that food, particularly foods high in sugar, prompts our brains to release pleasure chemicals. These chemicals feel good and create an association between food and pleasure, which is why humans crave them. One other interesting reason that cravings originate in the brain is the context of eating. Certain situations are often accompanied by food, which is why we can crave that food in those situations. One example of this is eating popcorn while watching a movie. When it comes time to watch a movie many people start craving popcorn simply because they are in that context. Another is personal habits. If a person stops at a fast-food restaurant every day on their way home from work and picks up a soda, after only a few weeks they will start craving that soda when they leave work, whether they intend to go get it or not. While the food you crave might not always be the healthiest, it is important to examine your food cravings, cut out any unnecessary ones, and indulge the ones you have on occasion. If there is no guilt associated with the food, indulging in a food craving on occasion can be great for boosting mood and overall psychological health.   Thankfully, O’Brien’s Bistro has a menu full of delicious dishes to satisfy your cravings. From fresh delicious seafood to indulgent steaks and pasta dishes, O’Brien’s dishes will hit the spot. Next time you get a craving be sure to stop in and join us for a delicious dinner, lunch, or even Sunday brunch. Call or make a reservation online soon, we can’t wait to serve you.
